This policy explains what information Kissa handles, why it is used, and the controls available to you. Kissa is designed to operate with as little data as possible.
1. Who manages your data
Kissa: Cozy Focus is a productivity app for iPhone, iPad, and compatible Macs with Apple silicon. For privacy questions or to exercise your rights, contact coffee@kissacozy.app.
2. Information entered and stored
Local-first app data
Kissa 1.3 stores tasks, focus sessions, preferences, tags, coffee cups, planned sessions, Statistics, selected sounds, and café customization locally. It does not require a Kissa account or operate a proprietary Kissa backend. Your progress does not automatically synchronize between devices. You can choose to back up or export information as described below; local-first does not mean that information can never leave your device.
Optional, manual iCloud backups
iCloud backup access is off by default and can be enabled in Kissa’s Settings. Kissa contacts Apple CloudKit only after you enable this option, including when listing existing backups. Uploading a new backup requires a separate, explicit action. Backups are stored in your private iCloud database, not on a developer-operated server. They require an iCloud account and available storage; backup size and successful completion are not guaranteed.
A backup includes your cup balance, unlocked items and café selections, tasks, tags, session history, plans, and supported settings. Its metadata includes the backup date, device name, and device identifier. Illustration and sound files are bundled with the app and are not uploaded. After a successful upload, Kissa attempts to retain up to three backup versions per device; cleanup is best effort.
Restoring and exporting app data
Restoring replaces your current progress with the backup’s state; it does not add cup balances or necessarily preserve cups or items earned afterward. Kissa creates a local safety copy before applying a restore. You can export a backup as a JSON file or delete individual iCloud backups in Kissa. Exported files may contain personal task content and history: protect them and choose carefully where to save or share them.
Turning off iCloud access does not delete backups already stored there, and uninstalling Kissa does not delete them either. Local backups and safety copies may be lost when you uninstall. App-data backups do not grant Pro access; Restore Purchases remains a separate App Store/RevenueCat action.
Information excluded from manual backups
Manual Kissa backups do not include HealthKit samples, the pending Health export queue, system permissions, or your Health/iCloud consent choices. Ordinary productivity history can be included. The local Health export queue uses file protection and is excluded from system backups. Restoring app data does not enable Health or iCloud access or transfer system authorization from another device.
Information the app does not request
Kissa does not request your real name, email address, contacts, precise location, photos, camera or microphone data. It does not read Apple Health records or access your calendar database. The optional Health writing and Calendar export described in section 3 are separate, user-controlled actions. Your task contents and session history are not shared with friends. Kissa does not include advertising or third-party crash reporting and does not use data for cross-app tracking. Information you voluntarily email to support is handled as described in section 6.
Optional Game Center features
Kissa with friends uses Apple Game Center for temporary sessions with two or three participants. Game Center player identifiers and display names, the shared timer configuration, session-control messages, and café artwork selections are used to coordinate the session. Other participants can see your Game Center display name and your selected customer character. Kissa does not operate a permanent room or shared-history service. The achievements shelf can be used from local history without Game Center; when you sign in, achievement progress is reported to and synchronized through Game Center. This does not synchronize your tasks, coffee cups, café setup, or full session history. Apple processes Game Center information under its own privacy policy.
3. Notifications, Health, and Calendar
Local notifications and Game Center
Kissa may request permission to send local notifications about sessions, transitions, and reminders you configure. Notifications are scheduled on the device; Kissa does not use an external push-notification provider. You can change notification permissions in your device’s system settings. Game Center sign-in is needed for sessions with friends and is optional for synchronizing achievements.
Optional Apple Health writing
Apple Health export is off by default. You enable it separately in Kissa’s Settings and grant system authorization before any Health writing. Kissa can save newly completed Focus sessions and Count Up sessions you explicitly finish as Mindful Minutes. It does not read Health data, measure your mental state, or provide medical diagnoses. It does not export breathing exercises, breaks, cancellations, or earlier or restored session history.
For Count Up sessions of three hours or more, Kissa asks you to confirm the Health submission after Finish. This is a review step for a possibly forgotten timer, not a biological attention limit or a timer cap. Pending Health exports remain local and separate from manual Kissa backups.
You can turn off Health export in Kissa and manage authorization in Apple’s settings. Turning it off stops future submissions and discards pending exports; it does not delete entries already saved to Health. You control those records in Health. Any Health synchronization provided by Apple is independent of Kissa. Kissa does not use Health data for advertising or send HealthKit samples to RevenueCat, Google Analytics, Featurebase, or a developer-operated server.
Export to Apple Calendar
From the Pro planner, you can choose Export to Apple Calendar. Kissa passes only the title, scheduled date/time, and planned duration to Apple’s native event editor. You choose the destination calendar and confirm or cancel. Kissa does not request access to your calendar database, read or import events, or perform two-way synchronization.
Saving a plan in Kissa and saving a Calendar event are independent actions. Exporting again can create duplicate events. The calendar or account you choose may have its own synchronization or sharing settings; review them before saving.
4. In-app purchases and RevenueCat
Apple processes purchases and offer codes through the App Store and StoreKit. Kissa uses RevenueCat, Inc. to validate purchases, restore eligible purchases, manage subscriptions, and determine Pro access.
RevenueCat receives purchase receipts or transaction information from the app and Apple, including purchase history, purchased products, subscription status, and Pro entitlement information. Its SDK also processes technical information such as device type, operating system, and when the app last connected to its service. This processing uses an automatically generated RevenueCat App User ID. Although RevenueCat calls this an anonymous ID, it lets the service recognize a customer record; it is not your name or email address. Kissa does not supply RevenueCat with your task contents, focus-session history, Game Center identity, name, or email address.
We use this information for app functionality, purchase restoration, fraud prevention, and purchase/subscription analytics, not advertising or cross-app tracking. Kissa and RevenueCat do not receive your Apple account password or full payment-card number.
RevenueCat processes this service data on our behalf under its service agreement and Data Processing Addendum, which set out processing instructions, security safeguards, and assistance with data-rights requests. This Kissa policy applies to that processing. See also RevenueCat’s privacy information and Apple’s privacy policy.
5. Website analytics and technical logs
With your browser’s available privacy controls, this website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits, language preferences, page views, and interactions with download links. Google may set analytics cookies and receive technical information such as your IP address, browser, device, approximate location, and requested pages. We use this information in aggregate to improve the website and measure App Store interest; we do not use it to identify you personally or to track activity inside the Kissa app. You can limit cookies through your browser settings and review Google’s privacy choices. The hosting provider may also process technical data needed to deliver, maintain, and protect the site, such as IP address, user agent, requested path, date, and operational logs. Those providers’ applicable policies also apply.
6. Contact, support, and website promotions
If you email coffee@kissacozy.app, we process your email address, message content, and any technical information you choose to share so we can respond, investigate, and resolve your request. We retain that correspondence only as long as reasonably necessary to handle it, meet legal obligations, and maintain a basic support record.
Backup diagnostics show only a sanitized technical phase/code in memory, without your tasks, account information, or identifiers. Kissa does not automatically send these diagnostics. You can copy them and choose whether to share them with support; anything you send is then handled as support correspondence.
If you enter a website promotion, we also process the public post link, associated social profile information, and engagement screenshots you send to check eligibility, deliver the reward, and prevent duplicate claims. The campaign page prepares an email for you to review and send; it does not automatically submit a claim or upload your screenshots. Participating does not subscribe you to a newsletter or give us permission to reuse your content in advertising. Campaign correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the offer, handle questions, and prevent repeat claims.
7. Sharing, service providers, and external links
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information. Service providers include Apple for App Store purchases, Game Center, and the optional iCloud, Health, and Calendar features described above; RevenueCat for purchase verification and subscription management; Google Analytics for website analytics; the website hosting provider; and the email provider used to answer you. These providers process information under their own policies and, where applicable, our instructions. Optional sessions with friends share the limited session information described in section 2 with the other participants.
Optional Featurebase feedback and roadmap
Settings and this website link to the public Suggest a Feature portal and Roadmap hosted by Featurebase. Visiting them is voluntary. This is an external browser-link integration, not an embedded SDK or single sign-on integration. These links do not automatically send Kissa/RevenueCat identity, tasks, cups, or Health data in their URLs.
Featurebase handles its own access, cookies, and content visibility under its privacy policy. Posts and comments may be public. Do not submit sensitive task content, Health information, passwords, or other private information. Visiting an external portal involves that provider’s own handling of browsing data; it is not the same as data collected by the native Kissa app.
We may disclose information when required by a valid legal obligation, to protect a person’s safety, or to defend our rights.
8. Retention and deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you delete it in Kissa, uninstall the app, or reset the device. Uninstalling may remove local tasks, sessions, settings, cups, customization, and local safety copies. It does not delete manual iCloud backups, existing Apple Health records, saved Calendar events, or files you exported elsewhere. Turning off an optional integration does not automatically erase information previously saved to its destination.
You can delete individual iCloud backups in Kissa while access is enabled, manage existing Mindful Minutes in Apple Health, delete Calendar events in the destination calendar, and manage exported files wherever you saved or shared them. The manual backup and Health queue exclusions are described in sections 2 and 3. Other copies or synchronization managed by Apple or your chosen destination remain subject to those services’ controls.
Eligible purchases may be restored with Restore Purchases, independently of app-data backups. Game Center achievement progress may remain associated with your Apple Game Center profile and return when you sign in; this does not itself restore your tasks, café, or full session history.
Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete purchase records held by Apple or RevenueCat. Purchase-service records are retained as needed to verify access, restore purchases, handle support and fraud prevention, and meet applicable legal obligations. For access or deletion requests involving information processed through RevenueCat on our behalf, contact us as described in section 10; we will assess the request and coordinate with RevenueCat where applicable. Some transaction records may need to be retained for legal reasons. Deleting a customer record does not itself cancel an Apple subscription; manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
9. Children
Kissa is not directed at collecting personal information from children and does not knowingly seek to do so. It works without a Kissa account and stores its main data locally. The developer does not automatically receive your tasks or session history. Optional backups, exports, and information you choose to send to support are handled as described above.
10. Your rights and requests
Depending on your country, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, object to, restrict, or port information we process. You can manage local data and manual backups in Kissa, permissions through your device’s settings, and Health records, Calendar events, and exported files in their respective destinations. For requests involving purchase-service records, support correspondence, or this policy, contact coffee@kissacozy.app. We may request reasonable information to verify your request and locate the relevant record. Do not send passwords or full payment-card details.
11. Security and international transfers
We use reasonable measures to limit access to information we receive. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security. Apple, RevenueCat, Google Analytics, hosting, and email providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, applicable contractual safeguards and transfer mechanisms apply; RevenueCat’s Data Processing Addendum describes its safeguards for processing on our behalf.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Kissa, the website, our providers, or applicable obligations change. We will publish the current version and effective date on this page. If a change materially affects how we handle information, we will seek to communicate it through reasonable means.
13. Contact
For privacy questions, requests, or concerns about data handling, contact coffee@kissacozy.app.
